He did it . He did it. By George I think he did it. I knew that he could do it and indeed he did!
Evan has done it. He broke his "Craptastic Monday" streak...and NOT a damn moment too soon. After two subsequent weeks of being SO out of control he "was unsafe to put on the bus" to his next Gig- and therefore had to leave work to pick him up from school, to be taken to his Tia's house...I had an CALL FREE first day back in class! HALLELUJIAH!!!!!
BTW, not only did he do "okay"...the little monkey brought home a "Great Day! Evan didn't need a single reminder" note from his teacher. I can't remember the last day I didn't need a reminder. He also had a good day in his other two daily arenas. There is MUCH joy in Mudville!
I did little things to show him how proud I was like calling everyone we know within his ear shot AND giving him oodles of hugs and smooches. I was SINGING at the store tonight. There is no relief like a break from expected stress. He got to have a special dinner. Chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes and carrot chips with a side of ranch for dippin'. Whatever it takes to ring his bell. He also got to claim 6 of the Poke'mon deck of 60 cards that he selected this weekend. Intellectually I know this is a bribe. My sanity doesn't care. I will take what I can get and if I must purchase two decks a month for the rest of his schooling this is a price I'm willing to pay.
Along with his favorite dinner, we had a "bubbly" toast. Vernor's Ginger Soda in double shot glasses. In case you're wondering there are about 10 double shot glasses in a 12 ounce can. I made toasts to his good choices and helping me have a great day. He made toasts to Poke'mon and the cantelope he got to eat for "dessert". Then in the last toast of the night he got VERY serious and looking me in the eyes said the following as we (plastic) chinked glasses.
"To the health of Love, the life of God, and the heart of the World." Here, here mono blanco here, here.
BTW, I give mad props to the new "reduced food additive" diet I'm trying him on. We have had nothing to eat that isn't made of food. I can't say it's the ONLY thing but even if it's giving him a nudge. I am convert! I realized the "fruit roll-ups" I'd gotten him were actually labeled "fruity-flavored snacks". geh
Blessed be
